From Idea to Action: How Fickle Flashes Found Its Flow
When I first shared the story of Fickle Flashes, it was just the seed of an idea — a place where cozy living, bursts of creativity, and a dash of delightful chaos could come together.
What I didn’t tell you was what happened after that spark.
The “click” moment
The name “Fickle Flashes” wasn’t just a playful phrase. It felt like a mirror of how my brain works — a thousand ideas lighting up at once, some fleeting, some that linger and grow into something bigger. I wanted a space where those sparks didn’t just fade, but had room to take root.
It all began when I had an idea to write a children’s book. I started researching illustrators, chatting with a friend who was also about to launch her own business, and suddenly the fire was lit — this wasn’t just a “someday” project anymore.
After diving back into my Wigby book and giving it a refresh, I began thinking about what could come next. Maybe a follow-up Ziggy adventure. Maybe coloring books. Then came the question: How do I get people to find my book?
That’s when the ideas started simmering. First, I needed a name for the company. Then, I asked myself: What else could I create? With my very limited artistic skills, I thought about smaller creative products — maybe stickers to go with the Wigby book. From there, I wandered into other bookish ideas, playful phrases, and cozy product concepts. Before long, those “fickle flashes” of inspiration were morphing into full-blown categories and collections.
And just like that… Fickle Flashes was born.
Bringing the vision to life
In the early days, I spent hours thinking about concepts, testing products, and figuring out how to make Fickle Flashes more than just a name. I wanted it to be useful — a mix of tools, tips, and inspiration that you could come back to when life felt too fast or too cluttered.
That’s when I leaned into three pillars for the brand:
Cozy Spaces – Ideas, decor, and rituals that make your home your safe haven.
Creative Tools – Planners, systems, and resources to wrangle all those “fickle flashes” of inspiration.
Playful Finds – Little things that make life brighter (often featuring my pups).
