Puppy Starter Pack 🐶 Must-Have Essentials for New Dog Parents

Bringing home a new puppy is pure joy - and a little bit of chaos. 🐾 Having the right setup from day one helps make everything easier for both you and your pup. These are the essentials that worked best for me and my dogs.

1️⃣ Carrier, Harness & Leash
Start with a small, soft-sided carrier for bringing your puppy home - it helps them feel secure and protected in the car. For walks, choose a lightweight harness that fits snugly but comfortably. Use it only under supervision while they’re tiny, and begin leash training indoors where it’s calm and safe.

2️⃣ Food & Water Bowls
Use bowls with weighted or non-slip bottoms so they stay put during mealtime. In the crate, I like bowls that hook securely to the sides - no more tipping or trampling during puppy zoomies!

3️⃣ Crate & Cozy Bed
A crate quickly becomes a safe space. Line it with a soft, washable bed that fits snugly - cozy but not overly fluffy, so it’s less tempting to chew.

4️⃣ Chew Toys & Training Treats
Chew toys help redirect the urge to nibble on furniture or fingers. Keep plenty of training treats on hand to reward every small win (you’ll go through more than you think!).

5️⃣ Puppy Pads & Cleaning Supplies
Accidents happen - and that’s okay. Keep pads handy along with an enzyme-based cleaner to handle messes and odors.

6️⃣ Poop Bags & Holder
Always be ready for cleanup. I keep biodegradable bags in a small clip-on holder so it’s easy to grab on the go.

💛 These are the tried-and-true basics that helped our first weeks together go smoothly - simple, safe, and puppy-approved.
